Orca Child

Title: Orca Child

Author: Regency/KathrynMacKenzieCarter

Season/Episode: Replacement for 100 days.

Summary: Jack gets stranded on a deserted planet for a few months alone. He begins to imagine what kind of companion he would want with him if he could create one with his mind. He goes to sleep one night and wakes up the next morning to find the female he'd imagined asleep beside him. He chose a woman, so that given the fact it seemed that he was stuck on the planet, he could possibly have a wife and children. The women was a blonde with amethyst colored eyes and fair skin. Her name was Orchid; nicknamed Orca.

Author's Notes: Challenge #1,748 (Added March 9, 2002) Write a story where Jack gets stranded on a planet without the team. (How is up to you.) There is a difference in the timeline. He has to stay gone for three weeks which where he is translates to three years. Somehow he gets back through the Stargate. ( How is also up to you.) He brings a new team mate to SG-1. (A child preferably.) Boy or girl is up to you. Name too. How does Sam react. Has to end as with Sam / Jack Romance. Submitted by KathrynMacKenzieCarter

'I can't believe this', I think to myself. Out of all the things that could happen and all the people it could happen to, it would be me. Of course. Better me than the rest of the team.

I look around this pleasant planet sourly. There's no one else. No one else, but me. I like this planet, I guess, but without anyone to enjoy the pleasant surrounding and the comfortable climate there's no real reason to be here. I mean, don't get me wrong. I'd come here to escape hectic times at the SGC, but to live here for the long haul. No. As luck would have it, I have all of SG-1's packs so I'm set for a while and when I start to run low on supplies I can find some out in the wilderness or something.

Five Weeks Later-Planet time

It is really lonely here. I've made some contact with a passing Tok'Ra ship, but there's been no one else since then. I've found shelter in a nearby abandoned palace. Yep, a palace. It's still equipped with clothes and mostly fresh food and water, and comfy beds. I live in the lap of luxury, but I live in it alone. it would be great if Sam was here, but I wouldn't want her to have to live in such isolation. She thrives most in numbers. She wouldn't survive the isolation, with her sanity intact anyway.

I wonder what everyone's doing at home. They've probably declared me MIA already. They've probably already assigned a new CO to SG-1. Or maybe Carter got the position. That'd be good. She deserves it. I miss her. I really do. I mean, I miss them all, but I miss Carter most. Why? Because, I care about her a lot more than I'm supposed to.

Earth-One Day

SGC

"Major, have you made any progress on getting that gate open?"

"A little, sir. Not much though. All we know for sure is that as of a few hours ago, the Colonel was alive and well. We have had no further contact with him since then. We've figured out what was wrong with the 'Gate, but we don't know how to fix it. Some natural event of the planet caused the 'Gate awkwardly shift and interfered with the wormhole's stability and with it's power output to the DHD. But that's the least of our concerns."

"Major?"

"Sir, that planet's orbit is much smaller than ours. Sir, as we speak the Colonel's been there for more than a month. The longer this goes on, the longer it's been for him. Soon, he'll be facing a year on that planet. We need to look for other alternatives to us fixing that 'Gate. There's no way we can fix this before three years go by. For him that's 120 weeks; 30 months;3 of our weeks. In twenty days, he'll reach that mark. Sir, we need help." Hammond nods thoughtfully.

"Who do you need?"

"We need the Tok'Ra, the Asgard, anyone of intelligence we can get our hands on. The Colonel will go insane all by himself. We know he has ample supplies for now, since he has all of our packs, but that won't last for long. I have every confidence in the Colonel, but even he can't make water out of sand."

"I'll do what I can, Major."

"Thank you, sir." He nods shortly.
